For artists by artists
Somsara was founded by Santosh Adhikari and Stanley Lai, two young designers who met while studying in the art program at Cornell University. Their shared vision for pushing the boundaries of form and meaning sparked the beginning of a new kind of jewelry house.
Santosh brings deep roots in the world of jewelry, shaped by his background in Myanmar; known for its precious gems. His experience at Christie's and The Fine Art Group gave him a rare perspective on the craftsmanship and value that define high jewelry. Stanley comes from a fashion and design background, with a strong focus on brand identity and storytelling.

from Artists with love
Together, Stanley and Santosh formed a creative partnership that bridges their worlds. Joined by architect Wonjae Lee, a fellow Cornell alum known for his precision and spatial design, and a growing team of multidisciplinary designers, they set out to create a new language for jewelry: one rooted in movement, modularity, and meaning.
Somsara is not just a jewelry brand; it’s a living system of forms that evolve. Built for a next generation of collectors, our pieces are designed to adapt, transform, and be truly personal.

Innovation in jewelry
At Somsara, innovation is at the core of everything we do. We create jewelry that moves, transforms, and adapts: from rings with interchangeable stones to pieces made with carved rubies and modular parts. Our designs combine traditional craftsmanship and precious gemstones with forward-thinking functionality, offering a new way to wear and experience fine jewelry. Built with precision and meant to evolve, Somsara is for those who see jewelry not just as decoration, but as design in motion.

Behind the name
At Somsara, we draw inspiration from the Buddhist concept of rebirth, samsara, creating jewelry that symbolizes new beginnings and eternal beauty. Our pieces are crafted to be worn, passed down, and reborn through generations.

Modularity
Our first design pillar: At Somsara, we craft pieces that invite playfulness and creativity. Earrings transform into pendants, pendants into earrings, while gemstones interchange, empowering wearers to personalize and evolve their style endlessly.

Metamorphosis
Our Second Design Pillar: Each Somsara piece embraces transformation, capturing movement and fluidity in its form. Witness jewelry evolve, allowing a singular design to unfold into multiple silhouettes, each change unveiling a new facet.

Materiality
Our final design pillar: At Somsara, we challenge tradition, redefining how rubies and sapphires can be presented and celebrated. Somsara pushes the boundaries, experimenting boldly with stone settings, allowing precious gems to speak in new and unexpected ways.
